Key Briefs & Reports: Justice at Last at Spektra Alucast? Vietnamese Workers Await Action

lady-justiceMay 19, 2009: There (seems to be) good news to report on the Spektra Alucast case!

Yesterday, a representative of the Vietnamese Labor Management Board met with the board of directors of Spektra Alucast to resolve the situation.

The results were 1) Spektra Alucast has agreed to pay all workers’ wages in full, 2) Some of the workers will be able to return to Vietnam within the month, and 3) workers have been set up with better living accommodations.

The Coalition to Abolish Modern-day Slavery in Asia (CAMSA) is watching to see if the company follows through on these promises and will post more later on the issue of promises vs. action.
