Key Briefs & Reports: CAMSA Investigates Alleged Abuse of Chinese National in Malaysia

China Vietnam Vietnamese BPSOS Boat People SOS CAMSA human trafficking  Ủy Ban Cứu Người Vượt Biển UBCNVB nạn buôn ngườiJune 3, 2009: Early this week, the Penang team of the Coalition to Abolish Modern-day Slavery in Asia (CAMSA) received a report from a Chinese national that she initially came to Malaysia to work as a laborer, but was instead pressured to perform sex acts.

Luckily, she was able to escape the exploitative situation and is now temporarily living with friend in Malaysia. She sought out CAMSA after hearing about its work on behalf of exploited and abused guest workers of all nationalities.

The Penang team will continue with interviews and investigations to uncover more about the situation.
